Qualification
A. i. An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix II of the UGC Regulation 2018. ii. A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate. OR B. Candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges / Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:- a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode; b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners; c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted; d) The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which is least one is in a refereed journal; e) The Candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences / seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR / CSIR or any similar agency. Note: The Academic score specified in Appendix II (Table 3A) of the UGC Regulations, 2018 shall be considered for short-listing of the candidates for interview only, and the selections shall be based only on the performance in the interview.

About Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) – तमिल नाडु नेशनल लॉ यूनिवर्सिटी:

Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to provide quality legal education at the global level. TNNLU is the brainchild of the former Honble Chief Minister Dr. J Jayalalithaa who laid its foundation stone on 13th February 2012.

TNNLU is located in 25 acre campus in the Tiruchirappalli-Dindigul NH 45, at Navalurkuttappattu Village, about 12 kilometres from Tiruchirappalli Railway Junction / Central Bus Stand.

Tiruchirappalli, known as Rock Fort City, is well connected by road, rail and air. Trichy has daily flights from Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Kochi. Madurai, a well-connected airport, is a hour and half by road from TNNLU.

TNNLU is located about 10 kilometres from District and Sessions Court and other Sub-ordinate Courts, thus facilitating easy and effective interaction between the TNNLU and the Bar.

TNNLU has been established with the following laudable objectives:

(i) to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development;

(ii) to develop in the students and research scholars a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law by developing skills with regard to advocacy, legal services, legislation, law reforms and the like;

(iii) to organize lectures, seminars, symposia and conferences to promote legal knowledge and to make law and legal processes as efficient instruments of social development;

(iv) to hold examinations and confer degrees and other academic distinctions and to do all such things as are incidental, necessary or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objectives of the University.

TNNLU commenced its functioning from the academic year 2013-2014. The TNNLU offers two under- graduate programmes, viz., B.A. LL.B., (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B., (Hons.). The admission to the courses is on the basis of marks scored in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

Extensive infrastructural facilities, with separate buildings for Administration, Academic activities, Examination, Library and Halls of Residence for Men and Women, auditorium, staff quarters and Guest House are available on the campus.

The University Grants Commission has included TNNLU in the approved list of Universities. The Bar Council of India has granted recognition to TNNLU as a Center for Legal Education. UGC has included TNNLU under section 12(B) of UGC Act 1956, which will enable TNNLU to apply for grants from UGC and other Central Government Funding Agencies TNNLU is a member in the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

TNNLU is a member of Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute and it is a permanent member of Indian Academy of Social Sciences. TNNLU is also an emplannled institution with the Competition Commission of India.
